why do you want to climb with us?
Andy: I'm scared of heights and thought doing this might help a little.
No, living in Colorado the mountains that surround us are a huge part of why we live here. We are excited for to the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro and raising money for such a good cause, and empowering a community.
Gabe: It will be a great experience for me that I will look back on in the future.
What do you think will be your biggest challenge?
Andy: Making sure to enjoy the moment. I might need to remind myself to pause every once in a while and enjoy the journey. Switching off from the everyday issues (usually work related!) and embellishing the positives - take time to look around.
Gabe: The biggest challenge for me will be waking up early every morning.
Anything else?
Andy: I am grateful to have this opportunity to spend time with my son, Gabe, and for both of us to accomplish something together, whether we summit or not. It will be "wonderful" to be away from the daily distractions and to just focus on the journey all the while creating new memories. We are also looking forward to meeting new people fulfilling a similar goal. Coming from Colorado we love the mountains, but this is Kilimanjaro and no doubt it will test all that we have, so hopefully we can be friends!
